Description

Produced using the local Mauzac grape combined with dashes of Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc, this vintage Blanquette de Limoux offers spring flowers, herbs (suggesting chamomile and fresh hay), lemon, apricot, apple and pear. Well-defined toast and mineral tones on the close and a luxurious mouthfeel make it quite a delight. Pair it with seafood or sip throughout any meal.

Tasting Notes

Though Champagne may have perfected the technique later on, Limoux has been producing sparkling wines through secondary bottle fermentation since 1531. This example offers up notes of chamomile, lemon and yeast with a flinty minerality on the nose and palate. Excellent value. (Vintages panel, Feb. 2016)
