The Alenquer growing area is protected from the full brunt of harsh Atlantic weather by the Serra de Montejunto hills. These chalky hills provide pockets of rain and wind shadow that impart excellent conditions for grape growing. The region is renowned for producing wines of tremendous quality and value. The 2012 Quinta das Setencostas is a real crowd-pleaser with juicy black fruit supported by spice, clove and leather tones. This will be super with smoked sausages. (Vintages panel, March 2016)
