The 2020 Beaune Clos du Roi 1er Cru is 50% whole bunch with 20% new oak. It hasimpressive clarity on the nose with bilberry and raspberry fruit, fine delineation and poise.The palate is medium-bodied with gentle tannins, the whole bunch lending a discrete black pepper note on the finish. Very fine and quite stately in style. Drinking window: 2025-2040. Score - 91-93. (Neal Martin, vinous.com, Dec. 2021)
