Vinyes d'Olivardots VD'O 6.17 2017

Description

The 2017 Vd'O 6.17 was produced with the rare Cariñena Blanca, from vines that were planted in 1900 on sand, stone and granite soils at 100 meters in altitude. 2017 was a warm and healthy year, and the wine finished with 13% alcohol and a very healthy pH of 3.17. It fermented in stainless steel with dry yeasts and was kept with the lees that were periodically stirred for eight months. Cariñena Blanca seems to thrive in warm vintages, and as such, it could be one of the most interesting white grapes for the future. It has an expressive nose that mixes notes of pollen, esparto grass, fennel and thyme and is open, clean and full of personality. The palate is vibrant and balanced, with fresh, focused flavors and a dry, tasty but austere finish. There is no room for sweetness in any of these whites. Drink date: 2019-2024. Score - 94.
