Description

The 2018 Alvarinho (Quinta da Calçada) 'Terroir' comes in with less than two grams of sugar, six of total acidity and 13% alcohol. This was in bottle a bit less than six weeks when tasted. It seemed to be in good shape, though, and it also seemed to be the best of the producer's submissions (granting that there was some competition). Deep and concentrated for the region and style, this also shows fine structure and a superb finish. The fruit is pure and expressive, but it will continue to develop with time. In the meanwhile, there is big flavor here in a controlled and dry fashion. Drink date: 2019-2028. Score - 90. (Mark Squires, robertparker.com, May 31, 2019)
