Description

A Syrah-heavy blend aged primarily in second use barrels, the 2017 Pezenas L'Equilibre delivers scents of creosote and black olives, gradually opening up to reveal blackberry and loam. It's medium to full-bodied, with supple tannins and subtle notes of pencil shavings framing the ample fruit. It does finish with a bit of astringency, so give it a year to settle down, then drink it over the next 3-4 years. Drink date: 2020-2024. Score - 90. (Joe Czerwinski, robertparker.com, May 31, 2019)
