The 2016 Merlot Alexander Valley contains a 0.4% splash of Cabernet Sauvignon and was aged 18 months in 28% new French oak. It has a medium to deep ruby color and scents of leather, cinnamon toast, cedar, tobacco leaves, bitter chocolate, dried herbs and graphite. Medium to full-bodied, it offers mineral-laced fruits wrapped in a chalky frame, finishing with great freshness and length. This is approachable and delicious right now. Drink date: 2020-2026.
