Masi Campolongo di Torbe Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2012

Description

What a gorgeous, voluptuous amarone! Great purity of expression with ripe but not raisined black cherry fruit, coddled within vaguely herbal, anise, tea and vanillin from the barrels. It is full bodied, plump, smooth and rich on the palate with alcohol power that doesn't explode in a fireball finish. Great tannin structure and length. Awesome. A single-vineyard Amarone from a site that dates to the 12th century, this is a wine that reliably delivers finesse and authority. A must-have for collectors and Amarone fans. You will find this to be a velvety, complex, layered wine that is a symphony of floral notes, earth, dark fruit, chocolate and spice. Will evolve and delight for 15+ years.
