Tasting Note: (made from vines that were reportedly planted between 1935 and 1970; malo and aging in French oak for 20 months): Opaque ruby. Heady, seductively perfumed aromas of dark berry liqueur, cherry-cola, Indian spices and candied violet, with a smoky mineral nuance adding vivacity. Sweet, penetrating and seamless on the palate, offering intense black raspberry and mocha flavors underscored by juicy acidity. At once rich and energetic, finishing with strong thrust, supple tannins and a whiplash of floral pastilles. Score - 92. (Josh Raynolds, vinous.com, Sept. 2014)
