India Pale Ales were brewed in 19th century England. In order to endure the long sea travel in clipper ships across the equator to India, English IPA's were high in alcohol and brewed with plenty of hops. The hops provided a spicy bitterness, balancing the malt and maintaining the quality of the ale through the natural antibacterial properties of hops. McAuslan has brewed an American style IPA with the addition of Chinook and Cascade hops.
Tasting Note: A deep amber/gold colour; pronounced aromas of toasted nuts, bread and citrusy/floral hops; Dry and medium to full-bodied, with generous hops character and a rich and creamy texture; the forward hops bitterness brings a crisp focus to the medium-length finish.
Serving Suggestion: The crisp and citrusy hops notes will complement fish & chips, or spicy sausage
