Tasting Note: The ripasso method, responsible for the famous wines of Veneto, adds greater complexity, colour and body to a wine by refermenting the wine over the used grape skins of an appassimento wine. This example delivers concentrated aromas and flavours of dark berries, prune, currant, dried fruit, cassis and sweet spice, alongside notions of red pepper and earthy tones. The palate here has a pleasing hint of sweetness that will pair well with spiced barbecued ribs. (Vintages panel, Aug. 2016)
