Tasting Note: Bodega Otazu is situated on a 12th-century feudal estate. The property includes an art gallery and a winery museum as well as a remarkable French-style cellar that dates from 1840. This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo and Merlot is silky, with fine tannins and oodles of still-fresh dark fruit. Black pepper spice, tobacco, earth and vanilla round out the complex package. Beginning to show hints of its age, yet still young at heart. (Vintages panel, July 2017)
