Tasting Note: The 2012 Reserva is a blend of 50% Touriga Nacional, 30% Touriga Franca and 20% Tinta Roriz. Half of the juice was aged for one year in used 500-liter French barrels; the other half in new 500-liter French barrels for six months. This is not a huge step on the regular Tinto, but it adds some extra aromatic appeal. More importantly, it shows a bit more power, with a more serious backbone and a more gripping finish. Impeccably balanced, it is a graceful and flavorful Reserva that can be approached now, but it won't near peak for another couple of years, at the least. As with the Tinto, this is a very nice value. For cellaring, this would be the better choice. For drinking now, pick the Tinto. Score - 91. (Mark Squires, robertparker.com, Aug. 14, 2015)
