Tasting Note: ... blends 50% Carignan (Cariñena), 30% Grenache (Garnacha) and 20% Mourvedre (Monastrell) from high density, slope vineyards in Apalta on granite soils. The grapes underwent a seven-day cold soak and then fermented with selected yeasts followed by six months in second and third use French oak barrels. 2016 was a cooler than average year, and the wine is definitively fresher. It has an expressive nose with a mixture of Mediterranean herbs and a lactic twist. The cooler year made them harvest some of the grapes a little earlier, and the wine is spicier, a different expression, almost as if it was from a cooler zone. There are some grainy tannins that would welcome some food ... Score - 92. (Luis Gutiérrez, robertparker.com, April 28, 2017)
