Tasting Note: Aglianico is the most important red grape variety in Campania. The region enjoys plentiful sunshine, long, hot and dry summers and predominantly volcanic soils. These facts are not lost on this producer, as 'Lapilli' is actually a term for the rocky material ejected from volcanoes during an eruption. The 2014 Lapilli Beneventano Aglianico is a fruit-driven, vibrant and spicy wine with savoury dark fruit and leather tones. Aglianico is a wine that will cellar, but you can enjoy it tonight with roast meats, or a hearty beef or lamb stew. (Vintages panel, May 2016)
