Tasting Note: I've been saying for years that gamay ought to be promoted as Ontario's signature red variety. It ripens well in almost all years throughout Ontario; it can be made in a number of styles, from easy-drinking to very serious; it's versatile with food; and it's easy to pronounce. The only other region to embrace gamay is Beaujolais, and that is sold as beaujolais, not gamay. Here's another very good example from Huff Estates. It delivers gamay's trademark solid fruit and bright acidity, here is excellent balance. The tannins are light, à la gamay, and it's a delicious and very food-versatile red, best drunk in the next year or two. Score - 4 Stars (out of 5).
