Jenny Wagner, of the family behind Caymus, makes two wines - a Merlot and this Sauvignon Blanc - under the Emmolo banner. The name harkens back to 1923 when Jenny's great-grandfather Salvatore Emmolo immigrated from Italy to Rutherford and started a grapevine rootstock nursery. This focused and delicious Sauvignon Blanc is designed to be more mineral than grassy, with plenty of ripeness and body. Pair with grilled fish.
Tasting Note: This almost clear colored Sauvignon Blanc from the Napa Valley opens with a light lemon-lime bouquet with a hint of wet stone. On the palate, this wine is light bodied, balanced and fresh. The flavor profile is a mineral infused lime with notes of white pepper. The finish is dry and its flavors linger and last for quite some time. I would pair this tasty Sauvignon Blanc with grilled mahi-mahi. Score - 91. (Ken Hoggins, kenswineguide.com, Oct. 4, 2017)
