Tasting Note: The 2001 Rivesaltes Ambré is a classic effort that offers terrific notes of toffee, sweet caramel and dried fruits. Made with mostly Macabeu, yet with 5-10% Grenache, aged 13 years in old foudre, it's gorgeously balanced, seamless and elegant, with perfect integration of its alcohol and sweetness. I'm sure it will continue to evolve nicely, but I see no reason to hold off either. Score - 94. (Jeb Dunnuck, robertparker.com, April 2015)
