Tasting Note: The 2012 Anayón Cariñena is produced for the third extremely dry vintage in a row. The grapes are highly selected from a very old plot of Cariñena grapes fermented and macerated for 25 days and aged in French oak barrels for ten months. This is one of the few Cariñenas from Cariñena as the grape represents no more than 5% of the vineyards of the appellation. It's a dark, opaque wine, with some rustic, earthy aromas showing smoke and spices, black cherries and damsons. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with good acidity, but as with the rest of the wines, there is a lack of concentration in the mid-palate. In any case, this is pleasant and easy to drink, much better with food. Drink: 2014-2018. Score - 90. (Luis Gutiérrez, robertparker.com, Oct. 2014)
